Types of Massage

Swedish Massage

30 - 90 mins
$60 and up

Swedish massage provides full body muscle relaxation and can be helpful if recovering from an injury. Swedish massage can be very relaxing for the client. The massage involves long, smooth strokes, and kneading, rolling, and lifting the tissue.

What to expect: During a swedish massage light pressure is applied to calm and relax your muscles and mind. Using massage cream the therapist begins with long, broad, relaxing strokes down the back and arms and then transitions to specific strokes to address problem areas. After your session is over you can expect to feel rejuvenated, relaxed and refreshed.

Deep Tissue Massage

30 - 90 mins
$60 and up

Deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). This massage is used for chronic aches and pains, and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg and muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

What to expect: At the beginning of a deep tissue massage lighter pressure is generally applied to warm and prepare the muscles. Specific techniques such as stripping (deep, gliding pressure along the length of the muscle fibers using the elbow) and friction (pressure applied across the grains of the muscle to release adhesions and realign muscle tissues) are used during this massage therapy.

Prenatal Massage

60 mins
$100

Pregnancy massage is a type of massage therapy specifically tailored to the needs of a pregnant woman. While every pregnancy is unique a woman’s body changes as the baby grows, which can cause discomfort for a mom-to-be. As the abdomen grows outward and your body’s center of gravity shifts outward, for instance, your posture changes to realign your center of gravity over your hips. For some women, the stress on the joints and muscles results in low back, pelvic, neck, shoulder, or sciatic nerve pain.

A pregnant woman’s body must be properly positioned and supported during the massage for the comfort and safety of the mother and growing baby. After about 20 weeks for instance, lying on your back can put excess weight on your abdomen, restricting blood flow. Kingdom Healing Massage has an automated massage table that will incline the pregnant mother into proper position alleviating weight on the abdomen allowing for a comfortable massage session.

Kingdom Healing Massage is certified in prenatal therapies with knowledge to avoid pressure points in the ankles, foot, and sacrum. Also, no essential oils will be used during your prenatal massage which may trigger contractions. Please note massage is not recommended for the first trimester of pregnancy. If you are considered a high risk, such as preeclampsia, high blood pressure, bleeding, or gestational diabetes please consult your doctor before booking a prenatal massage.

What to expect: When you have a pregnancy massage you normal lay on your side supported by comfortable pillows. The therapist will massage your back, neck, hips, and back of your legs, and then turn you over to your other side. Next, you will lay on your back with a pillow under your legs and knees for support and the therapist will massage your feet and ankles. Additionally, they will massage the front of legs and arms. Finally, the massage will end with a relaxing head and neck massage.

Specialty Massage

Hot Stone Massage

60 - 90 mins
$125 and up

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body. Hot stone massage allows the heat of the stones to apply deep pressure without causing discomfort.

What to expect: Holding stones in both hands, the therapist uses gliding movements to move the stones along the muscles. The therapist uses swedish massage techniques on the back, legs, neck, and shoulders while the stones are in place.

Fire Cupping Massage

60 - 90 mins
$125 and up

Fire cupping is a specialty massage which places glass jars on the skin and creates a vacuum by suctioning out the air. Cupping is the inverse of massage. Rather than applying pressure to muscles, the suction uses pressure to pull skin, tissue, and muscles upward.

What to expect: The therapist puts a small amount of denatured alcohol inside the glass globe and lights it on fire. This will deplete the oxygen inside the globe. The therapist then turns the globe upside down placing it on your skin. The air inside the cup cools down, which creates a vacuum. The vacuum causes your skin to dome up inside the cup, which makes the blood vessels expand. Cupping opens the pores stimulating blood flow and circulating out stagnating blood. Fire cupping balances your qi (the flow of energy through your body), helping energy flow through your body.

Trigger Point Therapy

30 - 60 mins
$60 and up

Trigger point therapy is a specialty massage which focuses on detecting and releasing trigger points. Located in the skeletal muscle, trigger points are spots that produce pain when compressed. In many cases, trigger points form as a result of trauma to the muscle fibers. Trigger points exist throughout our muscles, but unless activated they do not cause any problems. When a muscle is traumatized from an injury or physical or emotional stress the trigger points become “hot” or active. The belly of the muscle forms an adhesions in the belly of the fiber and creates a knot.

What to expect: The therapist will apply pressure directly at the site of the trigger point for a short amount of time, usually several seconds. This breaks up the muscle fibers within the adhesions where toxins have built up. Once the muscle fibers are broken up they begin to repair themselves returning to their natural state, ultimately releasing the muscle memory associated with injury and healing the pain. Expect your first trigger point session to be painful in the “good pain” sense. Be sure to communicate with your therapist about the pain levels during the treatment process.
